Every year we go to the pumpkin patch at the Silo Christmas Tree Farm. They have Christmas trees later in the year, obviously, and run a charity pumpkin patch to benefit a local food bank. We brought a huge bag of cans this year. And we usually buy one pumpkin.
So maybe I went overboard this year?
One huge pumpkin for carving, one little pumpkin for painting, a while pumpkin and a weird redish flat pumpkin that Isaac loves. Plus two pie pumpkins that I will roast... eventually. Hey, pumpkins make good decor through November, right?
Yes, all this happened about two weeks ago. I get behind, too.
Isaac thought the wagon was fantastic. And he insisted on pulling it himself even though it was very heavy.
After selecting and stowing our pumpkins, we went off to do a few of the events available at the pumpkin patch.
We went through the maze in record time. I did realise that this is probably the last year Isaac won't figure out to look at the ground to see where other people have walked to find his way through the maze. It was fun to see him get to a dead end and go "Oh, no! It's a deader end." Deader. He's so cute.
Last year, Isaac didn't want anything to do with the petting zoo. He was definitely intimidated by the goats. This year, the goats were full and had no interest in eating anything, while Isaac was feeling much more confident about feeding them.
It's ironic, really.
He did pet several animals, though. And after that we headed to the thing he really, really wanted to do.
Well, first he was all about picking pumpkins. And after that, he wanted to ride a horse. That was all he was interested in.
They were very busy this year. We had to wait in line to ride the horses. When we got to the front of the line, Isaac picked the horse that was giving them trouble. Of course.
He didn't care. He had a great time.
On our way back to the car to grab some lunch, Isaac climbed on top of the pile of hay to play. More king of the mountain than king of the playground.
It was a fun day visiting the pumpkin patch. And we're looking forward to doing it next year with Paul.
